Managing Partner and Co-Founder
David Marinoff is the Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Jade Mountain Partners.
From 2013-2016, Mr. Marinoff was a Managing Director at Apollo Global Management, managing the teams in Credit that invest in insurance linked assets, including Life Settlements, Life and Property ILS and regulatory capital securities for insurance companies, responsible for approximately 5BN of AUM.
Prior to Apollo, Mr. Marinoff was a Managing Director and the Head of Insurance Capital Markets at Guggenheim Securities. Between 2009 and 2013, Guggenheim traded billions of dollars of insurance regulatory capital securities, brokered billions of dollars of face of life settlements, incorporated a Bermuda segregated cell company, entered into a number of collateralized reinsurance transactions and arranged several hundred millions of financing for life-linked transactions.
Prior to 2009, Mr. Marinoff was an Executive Director in Morgan Stanley’s Global Capital Markets division, a founding member of the Insurance Solutions team. While there, he structured and marketed hundreds of millions of dollars worth of catastrophe bonds for global reinsurance companies, executed billions of dollars of hybrid capital transactions and structured billions of dollars of on and off balance sheet life regulatory capital securitizations.
Mr. Marinoff holds a BA degree from Wesleyan University and JD and MBA degrees from Columbia University.
Chief Investment Officer and Co-Founder
Henry Wu is the Chief Investment Officer and a Co-Founder of Jade Mountain Partners.
Prior to founding Jade Mountain Partners with Marinoff, Mr. Wu was a Managing Director in the Principal Structured Finance group at Apollo Capital Management from 2012 to 2016. As the senior trader on the insurance team, he was responsible for trading Insurance linked products, and Esoteric ABS on behalf of Apollo and its managed accounts.
Before joining Apollo, Mr. Wu was a Managing Director in the Structured Products trading desk at Cantor Fitzgerald from 2010-2012. From 1996-2009, he worked at UBS where he was an Executive Director in the structured products group with extensive experience in structuring insurance linked structured products. Mr. Wu is a native speaker in Mandarin and English.
Mr. Wu holds a BS degree from M.I.T. and is a CFA charterholder.
Chief Financial Officer
Khurrum Ajazi is Chief Financial Officer of Jade Mountain Partners. Previously, he served as Managing Director of Cowen Group / Ramius Capital, with 8 years of experience in financial reporting, valuation, and corporate administration, with responsibility for seven strategies and approximately $10 billion in AUM. Prior to Cowen, Mr. Ajazi worked for twelve years at Ernst & Young in New York, most recently as a Manager in the Asset Management (Alternatives) practice.
Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Legal Officer
Ora Sheinson is the Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Legal Officer of Jade Mountain Partners. Previously, Ms. Sheinson worked as GC of SybilSecurity, a start-up focused on data privacy controls. Prior to that, Ms. Sheinson was Assistant General Counsel at Verizon. Ms. Sheinson began her career working for several AM100 law firms, including Morgan Lewis and Bockius, Latham and Watkins, LLP and Patton Boggs, LLP.
Ms. Sheinson holds a JD from Columbia Law School where she was a Stone Scholar, and a BA, Magna Cum Laude, from Yeshiva University.
Managing Director and Head of Life Underwriting
Phil Loy is a Managing Director at Jade Mountain Partners where he focuses on both individual policy underwriting and origination of assets. Previously, Loy founded AVS Underwriting, the oldest and largest third party Life Expectancy underwriter in the U.S. and served as its President for 21 years. He has been a pioneer in the viatical and life settlement industry and developed much of the longevity technology used in the life settlements industry. Mr. Loy is a founding member of the Viatical Association of America (VAA) and the Life Expectancy Provider Group (LEPr). He has served on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Life Insurance Settlement Association (LISA) and the National Viatical Association (NVA). Mr. Loy holds a B.S. in Biology and Chemistry from Mount Saint Mary’s College and an M.S. in Biophysics from the University of Houston.
Managing Director
Jack Simony is a Managing Director at Jade Mountain Partners, where he focuses on deal structuring and origination. Prior, he was the Chief Investment Officer of Emergent Capital where he managed a $3 billion Life Settlement portfolio, and the Chief Investment Officer of Hamilton Hale Capital, an investment fund focused on providing capital to law firms and the legal markets. Earlier in his career, Jack was the Chief Executive Officer (1999-2008) of Whitehaven Financial Group, a pioneer in the field of litigation finance. Jack began his career on the Proprietary Trading Desk at Knightsbridge Equities (1994 – 1999). Jack holds an MBA from HEC School of Management / HEC Paris, an MFS from Oxford University Saïd Business School, a BA in political science and finance from City University of New York, and a CFE from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
Managing Director and Head of Litigation Underwriting
Robert Weiner is a Managing Director at Jade Mountain Partners where he focuses on the underwriting of litigation risk for our litigation finance business. Mr. Weiner is a former Partner of McDermott Will and Emery.
Mr. Weiner holds a JD from Columbia University School of Law.
Principal
Kevin Warner is a Principal at Jade Mountain Partners. Previously, Mr. Warner was a Partner at Gracie Point, focusing on premium finance of insurance policies. Previous, he worked as a Principal on the Longevity team at Apollo Capital Management, working with Mr. Marinoff and Mr. Wu. Prior to that, Mr. Warner was a Vice President at Swiss Re, focused on developing longevity and mortality products. Mr. Warner has worked in various roles in the insurance industry for over 30 years.
Vice President
Ilya Starobinets is a Vice President at Jade Mountain Partners. Previously, Mr. Starobinets spent seven years at AmTrust Financial where he served as investment analyst and trader at a three-person team managing a $5 billion corporate credit portfolio, in part, focused on the unique capital charge analysis required to invest on an insurance company balance sheet. While at AmTrust, Mr. Starobinets also managed a $100 million portfolio of trade credit insurance. Prior to AmTrust, Mr. Starobinets was employed at AIG and HillMark Capital, a CLO manager. Ilya began his career as an analyst at Natixis CIB. Ilya holds a BA from Bernard M. Baruch College and is a CFA charterholder.
Vice President
Mike Lee is a Vice President at Jade Mountain Partners. Previously, Mr. Lee was a Principal in the Principal Structured Finance team at Apollo Capital Management from 2011 - 2021, where he focused on subordinated bank and insurance company risk securities, longevity and mortality products, and various private credit transactions. Before joining Apollo, from 2001 - 2011 Mr. Lee was a Vice President at Credit Suisse in the Longevity Trading group and the Structured Credit and Derivatives Trading group. Mr. Lee holds BA and MBA degrees from NYU.
Human Resources Administrator and Head of Operations
Christine Dailey runs our day to day operations. Prior to Jade Mountain, Crissy worked as Director of Operations at Marinoff Advisory Services. Crissy began her career working for over ten years at Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley.
Legal and Compliance Counsel
Nicole Nielson-Pachkofsky is a Legal and Compliance Counsel at Jade Mountain Partners. Nicole began her career as an Associate Attorney at Sedgwick LLP and, more recently, at Tanenbaum Keale LLP. She holds a JD from Syracuse University and a BA from Azusa Pacific University.

Paul M. Friedman
Mr. Paul M. Friedman served as Senior Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of Guggenheim Securities, LLC from November 2009 to March 31, 2015. Prior to joining Guggenheim, Mr. Friedman served as the Managing Director of Mariner Investment Group from June 2008 to October 2009 and worked at Bear Stearns and Co., Inc. From 1981 to 2008, he served as the Chief Operating Officer of the Fixed Income Division. He started his career as an accountant at Coopers and Lybrand. Mr. Friedman also served as a member of Guggenheim's Management Committee and had direct oversight of most business support groups including operations, technology, new business integration, financial operations and regulatory reporting. He has been a Director of Oppenheimer Holdings Inc. since July 7, 2015. Mr. Friedman has an undergraduate degree from Colgate University and an MS (Finance) from the NYU Stern School of Business.
